Be a Rock Star for a week...
Since 2009, Rock Camp has given many young musicians the opportunity to have a behind-the-scenes experience, learning what it is like to be in a band and perform in front of an audience.
Rock Camp is a week-long camp for 7-18 year olds. The students are divided into three bands. They learn and rehearse at least two songs per band over the course of the week, often writing their own music. At the end of the week, the bands perform a concert open for everyone.
Rock Camp has had the honor of 60+ students of many ages participating since its inception. Over 50% of participants return the following year. Many students have participated multiple times, watching Rock Camp grow over the years. Rock Camp members have performed everything from Adele to AC/DC.
Rock Camp is a truly unique experience that will leave a lasting impression.
Our Instructor...
David Hanna has been instructing guitar and bass for over 20 years. In addition, he is accomplished at keyboards, vocals and drums. David has worked at Palen Music Center since 2007, teaching students to play various instruments as well as working as a luthier, working on stringed instruments. He helped build and has been the Rock Camp instructor since it was established.
The Jake...
Jake Arant has been assisting with Rock Camp since 2013. Formally a Rock Camp student, he has performed with many bands as a guitarist and a vocalist. His passion for music and teaching is evident in how he works with the students and their crafts. He has been teaching guitar at Palen Music Center since 2014.
